A Short Introduction to Fibre and Polymer Chemistry is therefore designed as a simple introduction to the subject of fibre and polymer chemistry. It is my believe that a book of this type will assist the teaching of the subject to Senior Secondary School, Pre-University students and others at similar levels. The book should be particularly useful to OND and HND students of Textile and Plastic Technology. First Level and Foundation-Year undergraduate students intending to major in Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, Dentistry and other applied sciences should find the book very useful. Home Economics students and the general reader who desire a general introduction to fibres and polymers should find portions of the book useful.
The book comprises fourteen chapters divided equally between fibres and polymers. An Appendix is devoted to Units of Measure and some useful physical constants.
It is therefore my hope that a thorough grasp of the ideas in this book will serve as a foundation upon which other layers of knowledge of this ever-expanding area of science can be built.
This is a revised and updated edition of the first edition published in June 2001.
